Week 2! Inspiration and design plan…
Ok… I definitely didn’t plan ahead to start this project, so I’m doing my planning now: which basically means scouring the internet for inspiration. Here’s what I am sure about so far. I want DARK paint. Moody, yet sophisticated and rich in tone. First thing that I did was google “dark blue” and “dark green” offices. I was immediately in love with some of the images that I found. The depth of the wall color in contrast with the artwork and warm wood tones just speaks to me. Our office is small, 10’x12′, but it has a big 6′ wide by 5′ tall window that really lightens it up during the day. The ceiling height is 9′ and there are 4 recessed can lights which illuminate the space pretty well at night, but I will definitely need to add more ambient and task lighting for the after dark hours.
I want to share with you some drool worthy inspirations that I found on the net. Get ready to see some gorgeous, dark walls and an eclectic mix of decor, bright pops of color and natural wood tones. You can click on the image or below it for sources.
Ok, sorry if that was too much, but really… all of those photos capture the look that I think I’m going for. Of course what scares me, is that I won’t be able to make our space look as good as these spaces… But, I’m going to try, and to be honest, I guarantee whatever I do accomplish in this office will be a major improvement to what we’ve been living with for the last 3 years! I think I have a pretty good idea of what needs to happen in the next 4 weeks.
To-do list for our office…
1. Paint walls… Deep, dark, green/blue
2. Build shelves
3. Rearrange furniture
4. Organize cabinets
5. Display artwork
6. Tear out carpet and come up with another flooring solution
First thing that I am going to do is paint, hopefully this weekend. I went to the paint store and picked up some samples today and I’ve decided to go with the color on the left… Cascades. How ironic that the mountain range that we get to enjoy in our backyard is called the Cascade range. That may have helped to sway my decision a bit. ♥
Hopefully I’ll be able to share some progress picts next week. Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by!
