Mom and Me... Season 1 Premiere

Hi friends!! The time has come and the first couple of episodes of Mom and Me have officially aired. I thought I would just put a little update on here, since my last post was over a year ago… Wow, time has flown by!

First, a little backstory! During the summer of 2016 we filmed a pilot episode of Mom and Me. Our show began as a house flipping show. At the time, the real estate market was pretty well recovered from the recession and the home prices were reasonable enough that buying houses to fix up and sell still made sense. But, after the show aired in 2017 and by the time we found out that Mom and Me was picked up for a series, the market had drastically changed. We were no longer able to fund, nor did it financially work to flip multiple houses at a time in our competitive market. There was just too much risk involved so we approached the production company with the idea of remodeling houses for home owners. It was a stressful time for us, thinking that we might not be able to deliver a show and jump on the opportunity that was presented to us. All that to say, HGTV gave us the go-ahead to change the show premise to doing renovations for clients. It was a huge relief for us! I just wanted to write a bit about that so people understand why that transition happened.

Fast forward to summer of 2018 and we were able to find 6 amazing families to be a part of the new series. We finished filming at the end of July. Our first two episodes just recently aired and now we are waiting to find out when the others will air. Introducing a new show takes some strategy. I don’t fully understand how it works, but I know it takes time and has a lot to do with demographics and advertising. I’ve definitely learned a ton during this process and the number one thing is this… ya gotta be patient! ;)
