Cute Lil' Side Table...
Hey there! Just thought I'd share some picts of a lil' side table that I threw together this weekend.
I'd bought these cute mid century legs at the local Habitat for Humanity thrift store a few years back and had been hanging onto them just waiting for the right piece of wood to come my way. The top of the table is actually a small remnant of a 10' long by 22" deep by 2 1/2" thick slab of kiln dried, live edge Ponderosa Pine. I bought the lumber from a local guy that had harvested the dead tree and milled it himself for resale. Let me just tell you, that piece of wood was HEAVY! I couldn't lift it myself, it must've been a BIG honkin' tree before the beetles got to it. Anyway, I purchased it to build a desk for a friend last year. It turned out beautifully. One of these days, I'm going to get a picture of the desk to share with ya'll. In the meantime, you'll just have to settle for this mini edition of the thick cut of lumber that it originated from.
I stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut, and finished it with two coats of rub on, low gloss Tung Oil.
Now, I finally have a place to set my drink when I'm ready to kick back at the end of the day...
